This gate is part of "Kototama: Consciousness of Element Symbols" by Masamichi Shimada and his master, Koji Ogasawara. Masamichi Shimada states that the Kototama gate consists of 17 sounds.
The two sounds on the horizontal line, "i" (イ) and "wi" (ヰ), serve as the foundation and bedrock of everything. The other eight sounds—chi, Yi, Ki, Mi, Shi, Ri, Hi, and Ni—represent the eight Father sounds. Since these share the exact same essence as the Eight Elements of the I Chin (Ba Gua), I connect them as shown in the table below.
The seven Mother sounds begin with "u" (ウ). Next, there is "a+" (あ+), where "+" represents the observer, and "wa-" (わ-), where "-" represents the observed. These are then divided into "e+" (エ⁺), "we-" (エ‐), "o+" (オ⁺), and "wo-" (ヲ‐). Following this, the "+" and "-" aspects come together to form pairs. While "U" remains unpaired, the others form four distinct pairs: "o" (オ) and "wo" (を), "a" (ア) and "wa" (ワ), and "e" (エ) and "we" (ヱ). To me, the essence of these pairs appears identical to the four directional archangels and the four classical symbols; therefore, I connect them as illustrated in the diagram below.
Subsequently, the eight Father sounds encounter the four Mother sounds, generating 32 Child sounds (an 8×4 phonetic matrix) as detailed in the table.
(Postscript: "n" (ン) is not a gate itself, but rather an operation or function. It corresponds to letters, books, records, the god Thoth, the Emerald Tablets, and when applied to the physical vessel, it closely resembles the pelvic floor muscles.)
